How to Download and Install Monster Hunter Outlanders

Monster Hunter Outlanders is a free download on iOS and Android, but a smooth install is about more than tapping "get". This guide covers the store steps, storage needs, pre-loading, and what to do when the listing won't appear.

Before you download anything

Two things cause most install-day pain: storage and accounts. Fix them first and the rest is easy.

  • Free up space. Modern mobile Hunter games are large and continue to grow with content updates. Aim to have comfortably more free space than the listed size, so post-install data and future patches have room.
  • Sign in to the right store account. Use the Apple or Google account you actually want the game tied to. Changing accounts later can complicate purchases and cloud saves.
  • Update your OS. New games often require a recent version of iOS or Android. Check the store listing for the minimum before you start.
  • Use Wi-Fi. The download plus the first-launch data pull can be several gigabytes, so a metered connection is a bad idea.

If you are not sure your device is supported, run through the system requirements checklist first.

Downloading on iOS (App Store)

Open the App Store, search for the game, and use the game's official listing page. Tap Get (or the cloud download icon if you have downloaded it before) and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your password. On release day the button changes from pre-order to Get once the app is live in your region.

A couple of iOS-specific notes:

  • If the listing shows a pre-order button, you can tap it to be notified — it does not charge you.
  • Ensure "Automatic Downloads" settings are not blocking the transfer.
  • After install, the app often downloads extra data on first launch; keep the game open until it finishes.

Downloading on Android (Google Play)

Open Google Play, search for the game, and confirm you are on the official listing (check the developer name). Tap Install and let it complete. On Android, pre-registration works the same way conceptually as on iOS: you opt in, and Play notifies you on release.

  • Make sure Play Services and Play Store are up to date.
  • If Play shows the game as unavailable, that is almost always a region or account matter — see the region lock FAQ.
  • Allow the in-app resource download to finish before closing the app.
Tip: pre-load if it is offered

Some large mobile releases let you download the base files before launch day. If your store offers a pre-load option, use it — getting the bulk of the data down in advance means you spend launch day playing, not waiting on a progress bar.

The first-launch download

Installing the app is usually only half the story. Many mobile games ship a lightweight client and then pull additional assets on first launch. That second download can be the larger one. Keep the app open, stay on Wi-Fi, and avoid killing the process until it finishes. If it stalls, the common errors & fixes page lists the standard remedies.

If the store page is missing

If you cannot find the game at all, work through this order:

  1. Search by the full title, not an abbreviation, and sort results by relevance.
  2. Check the developer name on the listing you find matches the official one.
  3. Confirm the game is released in your region for your store account.
  4. Update your store app and restart your phone.

If it still will not show up, the problem is regional availability rather than something wrong with your device. The region lock & connection FAQ covers that in detail.

Only install from official stores

Sideloaded "APK" files, modded clients, and third-party download sites are a common way to pick up malware or lose your account. Stick to the App Store and Google Play listings.

Values may change

Monster Hunter Outlanders is a live game and the launch is still ahead of us. Store listings, file sizes, required OS versions, and pre-load availability can all change before or shortly after release — always confirm current details on your own store page. This guide reflects what we understand as of the date above.
